quick recipe to create your own baguettes. I know it’s far from what you get at the boulangerie in France but it beats store bought stuff in the US
Ingredients:
2 cups lukewarm water
2 tbsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
4.5 cups of flour
Directions:
Mix the water and yeast and let it sit for 10 minutes
Mix the dry ingredients
After 10 minutes, add the water/yeast mix and mix it all together.
Mix for about 5 minutes until a nice sticky dough is formed
Proof for 90 mins covered
Put lots of flour on a piece of parchment paper
Gently move the dough out of the bowl without remove too much of the fluffiness
Split in half, stretch out each half and spin it a bit.
Put on baguette tray, or baking sheet
Bake for 25 mins 465F
