This is a great recipe to get your tofu baking on. Once you get the hang of it, you can vary it up with many different flavors.
Ingredients:
2 blocks tofu, extra firm. Ideally organic sprouted tofu.
3 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce, low sodium
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder or other spices of choice (optional)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
To bake the tofu, preheat oven to 375ºF/190ºC.
Press the tofu gently between paper towels by hand to allow the excess moisture to be released from it. Repeat if needed. This will cut down on baking time.
Cut each block into 6 slices.
On a plate, cover the tofu slabs with the tamari. Spray a sheet pan with spray oil or line with parchment paper. Sprinkle with seasoning. Place the slabs on lightly oiled sheet pan, or parchment and bake for about 45-60 minutes, turning halfway through the cooking time. Remove and allow to cool.
Bonus BLT meal: once you’re done making the tofu. Get a wrap. Spread one tbsp of may on it. Put one or two leaves of romaine lettuce on it. Add some sliced cherry tomato, add the tofu. Wrap it up and enjoy!
